Bob Pruett successfully coached the Marshall Thundering Herd football team for over nine successful seasons. An well-loved and esteemed coach, he led the Marshall Thundering Herd to an impressive 94-23 overall record.

In 1996 he was named the Frank Leahy Coach of the Year as well as the Chevrolet National Coach of the Year. In addition to these prestigious honors, he was awarded the MAC Coach of the Year 1998-99.

In 1999, he was inducted into Marshall University's Hall of Fame. That same year, he received the All-American Football Foundation’s Johnny Vaught Lifetime Achievement Award, an esteemed honor.
